Blessed are the Peacemakers

Day 18 (Mar 10th)
Day 18 (Mar 10th)

Matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God”.

That’s a short verse, but it’s not a small one. Notice what Jesus doesn’t say. He doesn’t say, “Blessed are the peace-likers.” Or, “Blessed are the people who stay quiet and hope the drama goes away.” He says peacemakers. That means peace isn’t just something you feel—it’s something you do.

A peacemaker is someone who walks into a tense situation and doesn’t make it worse. They don’t toss in one more insult. They don’t stir the gossip pot. They don’t grab a side like it’s a sport. They bring a different spirit.

Ø  Peacemakers turn the volume down without turning love off.

Ø  They listen before they speak.

Ø  They say, “I’m sorry,” without excuses.

Ø  They forgive without keeping score.

Ø  They tell the truth without trying to hurt.

And that fits our theme: A resurrection-shaped voice is a voice of peace. Because Jesus rose from the dead, we don’t have to speak like fear is in charge. We don’t have to talk like anger gets the last word. The world says, “Win the argument.” Jesus says, “Make peace.” The world says, “Snap back.” Jesus says, “Bless.” The world says, “Cancel.” Jesus says, “Come near.”

Here’s something powerful: Jesus says peacemakers

“…will be called children of God”.

Why? Because they sound like their Father. Kids often sound like their parents. They pick up the tone. They learn the phrases. They get the family voice. And God’s family voice is peace.

Jesus stepped into our mess, carried our sin, took the cross, and walked out of the tomb alive. That’s resurrection peace. A strong peace. A brave peace. A peace that doesn’t run away from hard things. So here’s the question for today: Where can you make peace?

Ø  Maybe it’s at home, when you choose gentle words.

Ø  Maybe it’s at school, when you refuse to join in on teasing.

Ø  Maybe it’s with a friend when you reach out first.

Prayer: Jesus, You are alive. Put Your peace in my heart and in my voice. Help me be a peacemaker today, so people can see I belong to You. Amen.

Have a great week!
