When the Road Isn’t Clear

There comes a point in every believer’s life when faith grows from something we know in our heads to something we live with our whole hearts. It’s the moment when we stop trying to figure everything out and start trusting that God already has.
Proverbs 3:5–6 invites us into that deeper place. It reminds us that God’s direction is far superior to our own understanding, and His vision extends farther than ours ever will.
There’s a hymn that captures this kind of trust beautifully:
“Have Thine own way, Lord, Have Thine own way! Thou art the potter, I am the clay…”
It’s simple, but it’s true. Clay doesn’t argue with the potter. It doesn’t complain about the pressure or the spinning wheel. It rests in the potter’s hands, allowing him to shape something beautiful.
That’s what trusting God looks like. When we hand our plans, decisions, fears, and deadlines over to Him, we discover something surprising: the path in front of us becomes clearer. It may not get easier overnight, but it becomes straight—steady—guided by a God who loves us more than we can imagine.
Sometimes we read a Bible verse for years, and it barely registers. Then one day, after a step of obedience, the same verse suddenly comes alive. Not because the verse changed, but because we did. Our hearts become soft in the hands of the Potter, and His promises start to grow roots in our lives.
When we trust God with all our hearts, we begin to see what Abraham saw: a God who is faithful, good, and right on time. So whatever road you’re on today—whatever decisions, fears, or questions you’re carrying—breathe this simple prayer:
“Lord, have Your own way.”
And trust that the Potter’s hands have never once failed His clay.
Have a great week!
