Stop Circling!

ree

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” (James 4:8)

God’s truth is never meant to sit quietly. It is intended to nudge, mold, and recreate everything it touches. It is meant reach deep within us and call something out of us. Every time God presses a truth into your heart, a choice is placed gently—but firmly—before you. The Word of God always invites response.

Not letting the Word of God “mess in your stuff” is risky. The danger isn’t outright rebellion; it’s polite agreement without action. We come right up to the edge of obedience, admit that God is right, confess that we’re wrong, and then step back. Indeed, it feels safer to step back. Acting feels risky. Exposed. Even a little foolish. But here’s the paradox: the moments we actually live are the moments we finally act with our will and say, “Yes, Lord.”

God isn’t asking for drama or perfection. He’s asking for an obedient heart. Sometimes acting doesn’t mean doing something outwardly at all—it means deciding inwardly and refusing to go back. So, write it down. Name it in prayer. Close the door behind you. Truth that isn’t acted upon slowly loses its power. Hearts that don’t act slowly lose their ability to be shaped by the Word of God & and God’s Holy Spirit.

And here’s the good news: the power is never in your step forward; it’s in the God you step toward. The weakest believer who truly comes to Jesus finds that God’s strength meets them immediately. When Jesus says, “Come to me,” He means, “Trust me. Stop circling. Step in.” And when you do, God draws near. Life rushes in. What once dominated you begins to loosen its grip.

So don’t linger at the edge. Draw near. You’ll discover that God has already been moving toward you all along—and that’s where real life begins.
