A Resurrection-Shaped Voice: The Shepherd Who Doesn’t Quit

Day 19 (Mar 11th)
Day 19 (Mar 11th)

Ezekiel 34:16 is God speaking like a steady Shepherd with dirt on His hands.

16 I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strays, and I will bind up the injured, and I will strengthen the weak, but the fat and the strong I will destroy. I will feed them with justice.

“I will seek the lost,” He says. Not, “I’ll wait for them to find their way back.” Not, “They should know better.” God goes looking.

Have you ever lost something important—your keys, your wallet, your kid in a crowded store? You don’t stand still and hope it turns up. Your eyes scan. Your feet move. Your heart races. You search because love does that.

Furthermore, God says He will bring back the strays. Strays aren’t always rebels. Sometimes they’re tired. Sometimes they’re confused. Sometimes they followed the wrong voice one step at a time until they didn’t recognize the road anymore. God doesn’t say, “Good luck out there.” He says, “I’m on my way.”

Then He says, “I will bind up the injured.” That’s not a quick pat on the head. That’s bandages. Time. Care. God is not embarrassed by your wounds. He is not scared of your mess. He is the kind of Shepherd who kneels in the mud and wraps what’s is bleeding.

And He says, “I will strengthen the weak.” Not just the strong. Not just the impressive. Not just the people who look like they have it all together. God has a soft spot for the weak—because the weak know they need help.

But then the verse turns and surprises us: “The fat and the strong I will destroy… I will feed them with justice.” God loves people too much to let power crush the vulnerable. He won’t let the big sheep shove the little ones away from the water. He won’t call that “just how life works.” He calls it wrong—and He does something about it.

So where are you in the flock today? Lost? Straying? Injured? Weak? Then hear this:

God is moving toward you, not away from you.

And if you’re doing fine—strong, steady, comfortable—this verse still speaks. God’s strength is not given so we can push others down. It’s given so we can lift others up.

Today, let the Shepherd find you. And then, with His help, go look for someone else.

Have a great week!
