Day 28 (Mar 21st)
Day 28 (Mar 21st)

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If your hands were covered in mud, you wouldn’t argue with the sink. You wouldn’t say, “Maybe I’ll clean up next week.” You’d head straight for the water. You’d wash up. You’d want to be clean.

Our hearts can get messy, too. Sometimes we say something sharp. Sometimes we hide something. Sometimes we do the things we promised we wouldn’t do again. And then we carry it around like a backpack full of rocks. We try to ignore it. We try to be “fine.” We try to smile through it.

When this happens, God doesn’t ask you to pretend. He asks us to confess. Confession is simply telling the truth to God. It’s saying, “Lord, I did this. I thought this. I said this. I’m sorry. I need help.” It’s stepping into the light instead of staying in the dark.

And here’s the best part: God’s response is not a slammed door. It’s a clean towel.

The Bible says, “If we confess our sins, he who is faithful and just will forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Notice the words faithful and just. God is faithful—He keeps His promises. God is just—Jesus already paid for sin at the cross. So when you confess, you’re not begging God to be nice. You’re trusting God to be who He already is.

  • Forgiving.

  • Cleansing.

  • Making new.

God doesn’t just say, “Fine, I’ll let it go.” He washes your heart. He scrubs away the stain. He gives you a fresh start. Not because you are so good at confessing—but because He is so good at forgiving. So don’t carry the backpack full of rocks one more day.

Open the backpack.

Tell God the truth.

And let the mercy of Jesus make you clean.
