Look!

“Lift up your eyes (Look)…” God doesn’t say, “Climb higher.” He doesn’t say, “Try harder.” He doesn’t say, “Get your act together and then come back.” He says one small word that changes everything: Look.
That sounds easy—until life gets full. But when trouble hits, we look up fast. A diagnosis. A hard conversation. A night when sleep won’t come. Pain has a way of pointing our faces toward God. But blessings can do the opposite. Good days can make us forget. A full calendar can make us wander. We start looking at plans, people, money, weather, and tomorrow’s to-do list… and our eyes drift away from the One who holds today.
Sometimes we even get distracted by “good” spiritual stuff. We picture what a Christian should look like. We compare ourselves to saints, leaders, and heroes of faith. And then we either puff up or shut down. Either way, we’re not looking at Jesus anymore—we’re looking at ourselves.
God keeps bringing us back to something simple: “Look unto Me.” Not, “Look, and maybe you’ll be saved.” Not, “Look and someday you’ll be saved.” But the kind of looking that becomes trusting. The kind of looking that drops the shoulders, unclenches the jaw, and says, “Jesus, I’m here. I’m yours.” Salvation is not a prize you win. It’s a gift you receive—right when you turn your face toward Him.
So rouse your heart, even if it feels sleepy or sulky. Lift your eyes, look. Let the “what about this summer?” and the “what if tomorrow?” fade into the background. You may still have a hundred things to do, but you don’t need a hundred saviors. You need one. Look to Him—and in that look, you’ll find the steady ground you’ve been hunting for all along.
Have a Great Week!
